Your Garage Door is Opening and Closing Itself

It’s not a trick; it’s quite possible that somebody else near to you has a similar security code to yours. This will most definitely cause interference in your system. You may find that police radios and airplanes will have an effect as well. This is a simple garage door repair – just change your code. The process for this is simple enough, although it will differ from model to model. Hold your transmitter close to the box on the opener and press down on the required button for 30 seconds – the manual will tell you which button. Most new models have a rolling code process – each time the transmitter is used a new code is generated.

Your Garage Door Stops Halfway and Then Reverses

In your garage door troubleshooting process, check to see if you have a sensor system on your opener. These are designed to stop when they sense an obstruction and retract themselves, to avoid accidents or injuries. Check to see if there any obstructions that could be in the way and remove them. The door should now function correctly. If it doesn’t check to see if the sensor lens needs cleaning. If it is coated on dirt or condensation, or even if there is a spider’s web in front of it, it will be reading it as an obstruction, preventing it from closing.

Your System is Not Responding to the Transmitter

This is one of the simpler garage door repairs; Make sure that the batteries in the transmitter have been changed. If this doesn’t work, check the power cable and source to see if there are any problems. If not, you will need to call your service company as your transmitter may have been damaged in some way.
